COMMUNITY EVENTS FOR MAY, 2022

May (10am-6pm):  Nevada Museum of Art,160 Liberty St., Reno; Summer of Soul (the last month); Judy Chicago: Dry Ice, Smoke & Fireworks; Visions from Smoke Creek paintings by Michael Moore.  Exhibits & tours all month; check website for all dates & times.

May (Tu-F 11am-4pm, Sa 1pm-4pm):  Sparks Heritage Museum, collections, lectures and outdoor exhibits, 814 Victorian Ave., Sparks, 775-355-1144: May 10 & 24 (1pm-3pm) LifeScapes, a memoir-writing class. Be sure to check-out the very interesting past-lectures online.

May (11am–5pm): North Tahoe Arts, visit the North Tahoe Arts Shop for local craft, jewelry, art & classes, 380 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City; register for Art Camps for all ages.

May:  Virginia City hosts events, mine tours, bingo, karaoke, ghost tours, and live music all month at various cafes & saloons.

          May 1: Virginia City Grand Prix, 10am-5pm

          May 1: Historic 4^th Ward School reopens to public

          May 6: Piper’s Players present  Stone Cold Killer, a Jack Stone

                       Mystery, 12 “B” Street, 7pm-9pm

          May 12: Dinner & Haunted House Tour, Gold Hill Hotel

          May 14: Pipers Opera House, lecture series, 7pm-9pm

          May 21-22: Chili on the Comstock, all day along “C” Street

          May 28: V&T Steam Train Kick-Off, all day

          May 28: Memorial Day Heroes’ Day Parade, 12pm-1pm

May: Senior Month: Senior Artists Exhibit; all month; Historic McKinley Arts & Culture Ctr, East Wing Gallery.

May 1 (4pm-6pm): Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, Beethoven’s Symphonies #1 & #9, 100 S. Virginia St., Reno, 775-434-1050.

May 3 (10am-1pm): Senior Info Fair, Washoe County Senior Center, 1155 E. 9^th Street, Reno; join walks along the Truckee and Sit & Fit classes around Reno; check online for new activities.

May 5, 12, 19, 26 (12:30pm): Senior Radio (every Thursday) hosted by Reno city; 1060 AM radio (KFOY); sign up for newsletters/sig e-mail                                                                        

May 7 (9am-1pm): Riverside Farmers’ Market; Mothers’ Day Boutique, specialty food offerings, handmade artisan goods, Kid’s Art & Play Village, Free Yoga & Child Care (sign up ahead); McKinley Art & Cultural Center, 925 Riverside Drive, Reno.

 

May 21 (2pm-5pm): Reno Wine Walk, Downtown Reno Partnership, 40 E. 4^th Street, Reno; enjoy walking downtown and sampling wines.
