Newcomers and Neighbors Club

of Northern Nevada

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can join Newcomers and Neighbors Club of Northern Nevada?
Membership is offered to people residing in Northern Nevada who seek to make new friends. Newcomers remains the first part of our name as we continue the mission to help people transition into the community.

What do my Membership dues cover?
Newcomers and Neighbors Club is a 501(c)7 non-profit organization and membership dues cover our operating costs. The major items your membership dues cover include the website, telephone hotline, monthly newsletter, etc. The dues also cover the entertainment at our luncheons. All Newcomers and Neighbors Club Board Members and Activity Chairs/Co-Chairs are volunteers and do not receive remuneration for their work.

What if you don’t have the activity group I’m interested in?
Contact the Activities Director and ask about starting a new group! All our groups are organized and led by our members.

How do you go about making friends?
Be active! Go to our monthly luncheons which have wonderful programs. Attend different activity group events. Offer to volunteer at a luncheon or with the Board. Contact an Activity Chair or the Hospitality Chair for ideas.

Can non-members attend events?
According to our Bylaws and Policies and Procedures, a non-member can attend any luncheon as a guest of a member. A non-member can attend only two activity group events during the year, and must be accompanied by a member. The exception is our Annual Fashion Show Luncheon in October— it is open to the public and a great way to get to learn more about our Club.

What do I do if I don’t receive my monthly newsletter?
Contact the Membership Director

How long does my Membership last?
Your membership runs from January 1 to December 31. You can renew your membership online or by mail using a renewal form in your October, November and December newsletters. We encourage you to renew online to reduce the time it takes our volunteers to process renewals and to minimize the transcription errors in your contact information. For those joining in the last quarter of the year, your membership carries over into the next year without extra dues.

How can I learn more about Newcomers & Neighbors?
Attend our free Informational Coffee that is held the first Tuesday of every month (see our home page for more information and a RSVP link). You can also contact the Membership Director with any questions you may have.

There are no strangers here—only friends we have not met.
